that would be a 300hp car at just over 2000 pounds. Fair enough...

Title would be greatly improved by replacing the ‘6' with an ‘8'.

I’d go 2.7 or 3.5 ecoboost V6 instead. 325-550 hp and 380-510 lb·ft.

an 8 would add more weight to the front. a modern 6 would not and double the power if not more. Besides, this car could be a secret weapon in NASA’s american iron..

eh, i dunno. I’m really liking the thoughts of NA with a couple efi throttle bodies off some Triumph triples.

A Mustang GT is only estimated to weigh about 170 lbs more than a V6. I think the added power would more than make up for it.

I can’t imagine how crazy 300hp in that would be. My 82 Capri (fox body) is a mildly modified 5.0 V8, and it’s already insane.
Tho, maybe an aluminum head 347 stroker (302 build) would be even crazier (tho certainly not lighter)

why not V8?

I approve this post. I worked in a Mercury dealer in the 70s and checked in many of those. Loved them. Got to hoon quite a few.

I love these cars. There is a guy who brings one to the car show by my kid’s school and I literally drool over it every time I see it. Simply gorgeous and different.

The AI specs give a 300 pound weight break to fewer cylinders than 8. So with the same max tire widths, and lighter weight but same power: wt ratio = faster laps due to at least 12% faster corner speeds at the minimum weights. Bigger difference with heavier competition
